The weekend and first date and the birthday count down.

My birthday is in T-3 days
You all know how exciting birthdays generally are, but I am amped up.
Decided to just ask everyone to donate money to  #TheBriconFoundation instead of stressing with presents that I will use small and then dash out or something.

I've never really been big on visiting oprhanages and doing the photo ops- even though I think they are a great idea, never really been my style. So I'm really excited that I get to work with breast cancer survivors.

what- I'm a boob girl through and true.

Party talk aside.

I went on a date this weekend.
because I don't go on a lot of these things I'm generally torn with what is appropriate and what is just down right stupid.

ps: Date told me I smiled alot but came across as cold, and when I asked him what I could do to be warmer he said nothing.
I will not be speaking to him again, because abeg no power.
Also I spent maybe 15 of the date texting my home girls about how much I missed the boy I liked but I do not speak to anymore.

It was a good date though. Music. Abuja nights. Wine and no one trying to grope me.

This weekend was BUSY.

Friday I went to Ijebu for my friends grandma's burial.
Saturday saw me on the first flight out of Lagos to Abuja for my friend M's wedding.
ps: I really like Abuja sha.

The wedding was really really good except I got there at the tail end, but got to spend time with the bride. She looked radiantly gorgeously stunning.

M- you make a beautiful bride and I wish you and Y- all the happiness in the whole wide world.

Best Man and Curry Gizzard

This weekend after my exams, I threw my books under the bed and settled in to watch a movie.

I chose the 1999 classic/ blue print of all African american movies.

"THE BEST MAN"

Yup, unfortunately a lot of us have seen it, but its such a good movie and all that jazz.

I saw this in maybe Jss1 or Jss2 so I really did not understand why Lance was mad that his best friend and man slept with his wife to be- abi they are friends.

Fastforward to 2013( the year of sexual enlightenment and all that jazz) I find that this is unacceptable.

Anyways here are the Vows( Which are so beautiful) and the speech Taye Diggs gave at the reception.

So fucking beautiful- I tell you.

These are the vows from the movie:
Bride:
"My friend, my love, my hero.  Loving you is my heart's joy.  It teaches me to be faithful to my personal truths.  As I stand beside you this day, I offer you the very heart of me, filled with sacred love. pure, unconditional and everlasting.  For love bears all things, endures all things and believes all things.  Love never fails..and I do love you, mind body and soul."
Groom
"My darling, my love.  As I stand here beside you this day...know that there is nothing greater than love.  For god is love and having faith in you and believing our love...makes life worth living.  And as I stare, as I stare upon your angelic face..I am made whole today ..a man with higher purpose.... for on this virtue is a man's greatest glory.  From this day forward we should love one another as God loves us."

Dear future husband please feel free to LIFT this shit word for word okay? I won't be mad I swear- Just read it off an iPad and I think we are good to go.

Next the best man speech- I really liked this because you was basically begging his girlfriend, subbing Nia long and at the same damn time making a toast that reflected the situation at hand.  LOVE IT!

Best Man Speech
"I have learned from them what it means to be truly committed to another person.  I've learned the importance of ceasing the moment.  Because you can't go back.  You can never go back.  You have to live for today.  Not for what was or what what could have been.  And what will be..no one can say.  But sometimes...you just have to step out on faith and believe that what you have built together is worth preserving.  Because when you are made for each other as much as these two are...it's definitely definitely worth preserving.  So to the bride and groom"  May god bless this union.

After that V asked/invited me to a flat party. I declined. I just don't feel like partying yet. I feel like I am this point where I am kind of done with partying- You know? Like Life is good, but it gets better than that.

On saturday the worst thing happened to me- I went to the bank and it was closed so I decided to look around the shops on the high street.

Walked into this shop found a perfect pair of size Nine boots on sale *squeal* they were £75 and had come down to £10. I didn't have cash but I was so optimistic that I walked to the counter and asked IF I could use my card to pay.

Turns out I could. So I whipped out my Fidelity bank Visa Card aaannnnddddd Everything pretty much went down hill from there.

I bought a new coat, jewelry, clothes random house stuff.pizza, spring rolls.

I basically turned myself into a debit card ninja- Slotting in my card and paying for everything and anything.

Only good thing that came out of all that is that I probably have michelle Obama arms by now with all the stuff I had to carry back to my flat.

Did Laundry, cleaned the kitchen, washed my bathroom, hand swept my room floor because the vacuum cleaner in my apartment is really shit- if anyone knows where I can find a proper Nigerian room in Scotland- Please "alla atchur gurl".

Today I went to church- AMEN SOMEBODY!

I was the only black person there and it was such a different service from all the casting and binding and witches and wizards services I am so used to. The pastor preached about the all encompassing nature of God, how different doctrines try to fit him into a box as small as thier minds can understand and no more.

Basically Baba God is bigger than all of you the mind can comprehend. It was a good service.

After church I did some more random shopping- even though I shouldn't have- I'm probably going to have to cut up my card at this rate. :(

So I came home and decided to cook something fancy.

I cooked curry gizzard, coconut rice with prawns and dodo.

Not having a maid help you chop up all your condiments before you start cooking is stressful yo!

I literally had to clean the gizzard, chop the onions, garlic, pepper, tomatoes etc etc. pluck the coriander leaves ( which I had no idea what they were until today- But they gave my gizzard curry a very distinct taste I am still trying to place)

Then start cooking- finish it, move to the rice- finish that and start frying the plantain- Thankfully my housemate came to help me.

In the end success.

However the food will most likely go to waste because- I had zero appetite after all that cooking and standing on my feet and washing up and all that.

But My house mate kept saying she can't believe I am so adventurous- cooking food with just an online recipe.

Risk takers lomo.

AND in all of this immersion of my hands in water, laundry yesterday, plate washing, cooking, bathroom washing my nail polish is yet to chip.

I AM SO FUCKING IMPRESSED!

I do not know IF it is the brand- If yes- ORLY for president.

If its the water- No wonder I still feel dirty and I have to rescrub myself at least twice till I can feel clean, which might be what is making my skin lighter- I will come to that much later.

Classes start tomorrow- I liked the weekend- Chilled, lazy with a lot of productivity( I was able to buy a book :))

And I am going to start taking piano lessons.

Between the Gym, school work and piano lessons, I hope I find time to see the world or at least part of it in scotland- my friend Asake said I should kuku go and study to be a scientist since that is what I am trying to do!

I wish all of you a fruitful week ahead, lots of happiness and smiles all round etc etc etc

( You can see I am in a very good mood tonight)

I have lost all the zeal to write.

Before I used to be so eager to come here and talk and talk and talk. Now not so much.

Infact I'm contemplating closing down the blog. Almost 7  years of blogging and I'm just not feeling it.

Scary. but at the same time exciting.

Last Night was my friends birthday. and it was AMAZING!

Like totally amazing for a week day party. and the Lover was amazing as well.

He is an amazing host sometimes- Plus we both had fun, usually when we go out its just same old

same old.

But last night was good- Although I wasn't wearing any make up and ran away from all the cameras

and it was the 1st time I came out with my locked hair- AFTER SATURDAY.

I liked it. it was the perfect kodak moment. I'm literally dying to see photoossss.

speaking of photos. what is happening to me?

I hate them all of a sudden. I cant stand my photograph being taken.

This young lady is now *gasp* camera shy. - Who woulda thunk it?

anyways i am still trying to work out what brought that about.

OH LORRRDDDD.

im getting my 1st oleku made! HELLOOOOOO LEGS ON LEGS ON LEGS!

I'm ecstatic, finally I have arrived.

Now all i seek is a make up artitste.

Speaking of make up artitste, I need a friend who does professional make up

Because yours truly has decided to start wearing make up. and a lot of it.
to all the weddings I attend. starting with the next one.

Weddings have started to excite me. not marriage o.
The actually wedding ceremony!

Its almost the only social call i enjoy- closely followed by stage plays.
as i was saying- I love weddings.

three weeks ago i updated my status to - marriage might be hard work, but weddings are fun fun fun!

Turns out, I have morphed fully into a Yoruba woman- who spends her waking weekend hours trying on

outfits for parties. and her week day hours fantasizing about how she will spray money AND  argue for souvenirs at the parties.

I feel terrible because I had previously judged these women. and now I am one of them.

While I CAN wait to get married. I CAN NOT WAAAAIT TO HAVE A WEDDING!

YORUBA STYLE.

so what has been really good?

ps: Im going on holiday next week. *azontos*

I tell you, this is my year of vacations!

This post is everywhere.

Also thank you to everyone who checked on me when i was having my mini bouts of depression.

I appreciate it.

and to think, I had people who I thought would be all over me. ELA. Its the people I dont send from here to there that were looking after me. calling and shit.
This Life is truly mysterious.

ANYWAYS what is up with people wanting favours from me? of late everybody had been wanting something, while I'm not one to ask except it is desperately important, I have tried to give cheerfully.

Until last week when a class mate of mine randomly called me to say hi. This week same class mate calls to say hello again.

Now why is it strange that my class mates are calling me?

simple- My classmates hated me in Uni. I was that girl that was unserious and spent her weekends in Lagos.

Having a fun time. missing classes and just generally coast through school

partying with my friends in lagos and building social connections.

My class mates hated me through all of it and the feeling was mutual. I had about a hand ful of friends in my class- AND  we were party monsters( and that is putting it lightly)

anyways  enough about that- I am changed now and i channel my energy to weddings.

So You can imagine my shock/disgust when this my Bible wielding classmate, had to call lil ol' sinner me

to ask to see me. what for?

Turns out class mate is a marketer in the bank and had a target to meet.
Class mate wanted me to make some introductions for him AND wanted to see if he could use some of my social connections to build a network to enable him meet a target.

I LAUGHED.
and laughed. and asked him, " have I ever called to ask you to ask your prayer group to pray for me?"

OK that is a lie. I didn't say that.

I said" I'm busy this weekend, and I'm out of town next weekend- say 1st weekend in June?"
Him : Oh its too late.

Human beings are users and disgusting. You can not frown at my lifestyle for 4 years then call me because I haven't changed my # to use my social connections.

This life is too damn mysterious.

Will I help him? Maybe. but I need time to work through the anger I feel towards his type of people.

A part of me says I should be thankful that God has blessed to the point of becoming a corner stone.

I'm confused.

Blessed

Last night, on my way back from Demilade's house- I saw two boys going through the trash, gathering cartons to sleep on- as make shift mattresses for the night- and the wind was howling like it wanted to rain.

and in that moment I felt, ungrateful, wicked, and stupid. I have a roof over my head, and I allowed myself get depressed because my sister repeatedly takes, uses and more often than not misplaces my property.

While this is a good reason to get depressed, It shouldn't have gotten me THAT depressed. But it did. and it took seeing those boys to snap out of my depression.

My Lover is probably one of the most amazing people I know. all through this my episode, he had done nothing but stroke my hair and let me cry. not for once saying- suck it up, thats what people do etc.

He has also spoiled me silly with random little presents.

I have also mastered ( or currently in the process of mastering) the art of peppering him with gifts as well.

We are slowly becoming that couple people want to be- But don't want to know how far we have come.

relationships are hard work yo. a bit to hard. But worth it.

I have finally decided to start up my business.

and I am excited about it.

There is so much i want to talk about but I'd hate for this to be a long ass post.- Like the wedding i attended on Saturday.

While i have taken to berating the lover for gathering up grooms-men mileage. I haven't been entirely innocent myself. I have fallen in love with weddings. and especially spraying money. Lord knows i can not wait to start making enough money to spray my friends in 100 USD notes- Olu maintain style.

Till then 100N mint will do.

Turns out this year is going to be my year of vacations after all.

and most of them are all expense paid.

I am blessed. and ungrateful. BUT still blessed.*

*-I should put that on a t-shirt

Nostalgia-maxxing with Michael Jackson
