2026- YAY

I love a new year. Because I get to set new goals and so on and so forth and the collective consciousness of fresh start and the feeling of being able to do anything and everything just coming off the two weeks of Christmas holidays where all the days blurred and we just ate like thieves and rested.

ANYWAY. I love a new year.

Do I have plans for the year?

Actually yes. I plan to set 4 big goals, and 12 small goals every month and just make plans to get to te finish line.

The housing market in my city is cooling down seriously so this means I might actually BUY a house this year. Audacious goal but 2 years ago I was living in Oniru VI so this is very fascinating.

Sacrifices will be made but they will be worth it.

And I'm happy to choose this because one thing about life-  a man who procrastinates in his CHOOSING will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance. And circumstances know how to circumstance.

Before I started writing this post I looked at my bloglist and was like oh my God in 2017 I wrote almost 150 blog posts, I must have been going through it. Turns out in 2017 I was going through my divorce, its so crazy how time passes and truly you do not remember anything. I actually did not remember.

If someone told me that a time will come when you won't even care I'd have been like will it- anyway it will, it does and you really move on with your life.

I was writing this and got sucked into creating abi updating my 2026 plan and let me tell you something.

Lots of grand plans this year. I am viciously monitoring my paycheck and looking for another income source.

So HELP ME GOD.

When I also went through my bloglist I saw so many things I wanted to that I have now done, start a book club, travel to asia. move to another country wasn't even on the list.

So funny how one thing that is meh , sets the tone for a change in your life, I did not get promoted once and because of that I moved half way across the world to restart my life and now? I send my manager who did not promote me a Christmas hamper ever year.

You have to be thankful for the people who allow themselves to be used by God, because truly what the enemy meant for evil, he turned around for GOOD.

Wishing you a great 2026!

New Year, Newer me?

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Since the tiktok ban and the demise of twitter it feels like bloggers are back, well- some bloggers.

And I'm here for it. Anyway I started off my year with whole 30 and the most painless period ever. Honest to God whole 30 is the truth just that rice and beans is my cultural diet but my God that diet works wonders. Like my skin is clear, my ab lines are back I'm drinking 3 liters of water a day. Its a damn miracle.

That being said I really need to incorporate it into my lifestyle instead of doing 2 30 day stints.

Anyway my new year goals this year are simple- focus on my focus and tap into abundance.

everything else is jara. I also want to build a real life community but I understand that you need forgiveness to build community and God knows forgivness issa struggle for me.

That being said- why did I find out today that someone I know was in a cult. Like she joined a fellowship and turns out it was a cult. Honestly when she told me I was like- bruh you are NIGERIAN. how did they run you street like this?

But that's another thing that Nigerians/ immigrants need to be wary of- when you are vulnerable for community you give room for all sorts to inflitrate your life. Anyway I'm happy she is out and I invited her to my own church but I'm sure she must be so annoyed. LOL

My friends got married and I'm so sad I missed the wedding but when I tell you that her looks were chef kiss? I was so happy with the hairstyle she went with because I personally think frontals are razz, especially when brides use them. Like lagos is so hot we can see the lace lifting please.

But knowing lagos brides they wont stop sha, so let me mind my canadian business.

And speaking of my canadian business- I entered into a black history month competition for a poem and won.

I told myself I was going to get paid for writing this year so to start the year off with a prize has me thinking can I start calling myself award winning writer. Anyway, I have a reading for the poem and I have to go and discuss what my thoughts are about black history month which is interesting because before I moved here february was the month of love. So to now layer BHM on it, issa lot, and also I have little to no thoughts on it because where I'm from every month us black history month.

Be that as it may, when in rome and that I will put something together get dressed wear a wig and go and speak on black history month.

Do you hate when you see something on social media that challenges your prejudice and makes you see yourself as a hypocrite? Honestly now I just laugh but before it used to annoy me. Case in point the tweet about people hating tattoo's but microblading their eyebrows. The worst part of that tweet is that it includes fine aunty in it. LOL hilarious. also because while I don't judge tattoo's i'm a piercing girlie, I can not believe that I have tattooed eyebrows. LOL and guess what I've done them 3 times. they just won't stay.

After this attempt I will give up on microblading permanently and just learn how to wear make up. or just figure out my foundation shade at least.

I hope you all are well and I wish you a prosperous 2025.

I have so so so many great plans for the year and I feel so grateful because I know they will all come true.

Also school finishes in 2 months!!!! two months can you guys believe it? Thank you Jesus

Currently

 Listening

Non-stop to Jelo by Young John & Pheelz

One thing about this song is that both of them were actual BTS guys ( producers) in the music industry and have now gone on to release bangers non stop. The lesson here is not to let anyone pigeon hole you into a box because of what you have done. There is still so much you *CAN* do.

Adupe fun eledumare
Adupe fun olorun oba
Na him give me the package
So make nobody come dey buga

Reading

Morgan Housel's new book called " Same as ever"

Life is lifing a lot right now so I am not going through this as quickly as I'd like, and honestly its not as interesting as the first book so its gonna be slow, but since I'm interested in knowing what is unchanging- I will finish it.

Feeling

Super grateful for how well this move has turned out. I can not lie, when people said moving will be hard I did not totally envision how hard, but the truth is that for us -God's yoke has been easy. and 4 months in, everyone is like OMG you are so lucky because wow, and truly I am so grateful

Also Feeling
COLD. I low key chose my city based on how great the weather was supposed to be and this week something called Arctic blast came through the city and its been minus kini kan. Had to buy a space heater on amazon prime ASAP. And it was not on my list of things I planned to buy in 2024. Anyway...

Expecting
Lots of great news, My amazon delivery, some difficult conversations with my editor about my book.
An easy path to settlement in Canada. Because being expectant is just the best way to be.

Honestly I am really excited about for 2024, I have more than a good feeling about this year, It just feels so much like the year where many things will come together. Like crystalize properly properly PROPERLY.

So my message for you this year is to GET EXCITED, Make big plans, then make steps on how to get them done, 2024 is a really auspicious year. Even the Chinese people have this to say about 2024 ( which is the year of the dragon)- To sum it up, 2024, the Year of the Dragon, encourages us to be ambitious, creative, and strong in facing challenges. By setting big goals, being imaginative, staying resilient, building good connections, and balancing our efforts, we can make this year successful- I mean.

Happy New year

 AH 2022 is gone.

and it was one of those years that had SO much inside it. thinking about it now has me like ???

Anyway in 2022 was a really good year, if I'm being honest there were some things I slept on but I've woken up to them in 2023.

To plan 2023 I decided to do the thinker, prover method to set my year goals and I have arrived at 3 things and a 4th one in maybe maybe not.

I am very excited about 2023 sha I can't lie.

If I had to do a review of 2022, I think I travelled so much, Hercules actually said " you are strong sha".

I went to Togo & Cotonou in February, then Dubai in May, Then Abuja in October, and Then India & Thailand in November and Rwanda & Abraka in December.

The less I speak of my visa woes- the better.

Being the planner is not easy but I need to get somethings done and can't be sitting around waiting for other people to do them.

One of my 2023 goals is to say No to everything that isn't what I want. which is odd because It appears what I have long thought of as responsible is actually people pleasing and I'm divesting.

Weddings- So many. I had a day trip to Ibadan for H's friends wedding in May, then we had our 60 people black tie wedding celebration in February, My friend Jade's wedding where I was chief whip, Kris wedding in Lagos. Tuvie's wedding in Rwanda.

The older I get its become more important to not miss the important bits of your friends lives if you can. Its's something I'm making concerted effort to do.

Dog Mum- We re-homed one of our dogs, and I am still slightly resentful about that, but I think that was a very big lesson for me, in life, capacity and just willingness to prune. Also sunk cost fallacy is a thing. Anyhoo I miss that lil crack head every single day. and I think my second dog is lonely.

Reading- I have never set a reading goal, but last year I set out to building a reading community. I'm happy to announce we had a physical meeting! and I'm hoping in 2023 to take it to the next level by hosting an actual show once a month about the books I love but we'll see. I really think more people should read

Career- Honest to God my Career stalled in 2022. But I have decided to boost visbility on Linkedin and also just relocate because I feel like workwise, I'm over it in Lagos. Not over the money sha, because I had two pay raises and I'm not even mad. Ha.

Working out- Meh. I'm hoping to commit to twice a week for the 52 weeks in 2023. Honestly I think the best time to work out remains the mornings FOR ME. unfortunately I''m struggling to optimise that with my current lifestyle and commute.

Ive been writing this for over a week now and let me tell you that I keep seeing messages to have difficult conversations with people who have offended me and I'm like- Hmnnnnn.

I'd rather not.

In 2022 I had ONE difficult conversation and I felt like it was such a waste of time but did I feel better afterwards, also no. Turns out forgiveness is not my strong suit.at all.

I'll do better in '23.

Anyway Happy New Year. Here is to us achieving all our goals this year!

Thank God its February

 Because January Sucked Ass.

It was an awful awful month. well not really awful, but I experienced such dissapointment that it has thrown me off and I'm grappling to get my life back on track.

First I did not get my Visa so I could not attend my residency. And I did not think I will be that dissappointed. Honestly the level of disappointment shocked and continues to shock me.

That visa rejection made me know at the back of my mind that I need to start my second passport journey with immediate alacrity. Can I write from lagos? yes, will the quality be the same- who knows?

Actually I know, and because I know I am mad irritated, can you believe that I was the only one who could not attend because I did not get the visa, hello 3rd world country.

I do not think I have been this upset in my whole life, It is seeping into everything, literally its been weeks and I'm still so snappy and I cant seem to snap out of it.

That being said, Thank God it is a new month, its so strange being so grouchy. Writing this makes me realize it is ONE thing that sucked in January and I've allowed it taint the whole month.

OMG another terrible thing happened and I am fasting & Praying to turn it around. Honestly cant wait for Halleuyah Challenge to come so I can get what I'm asking for. Hopefully I get the thing I was asking for, because lord knows I need a miracle.

On the upside something good happened to me in January, I was able to capture for my passport. in a week, everyone knows the madness of Nigerian passport office now.

And even more lush, is the news that Drop Box is BACK BITCHES. So that means Imma get a new passport and A NEW  american visa and I will apply for my Uk visa too.

I am very excited about those, since the world is now treating covid like a flu, means I will be able to get back into seeing the world.

Anyway I am hoping that february sees me actualizing my goals for 2022 because as the good book says, better the end of a matter than the beginning there of, alsoooooooooooooo

on my 2022 to do remains to get my book written and published, set up a site for my writing & social commentary career, physically move every day of the week [ or maybe 3] yet to decide and finally GO BACK TO THE PIANO.

I swear my to do every year has been the same for years. TBH this year the only thing I know for certain is that I'm learning crypto and I'm relocating.

Hopefully all my other goals get met.

But I am still looking for how to shake off the disappointment in my soul.

Also my cousins cut my siblings and I off because of some family drama and I'm just now realizing how sad I am about that. It sucks

On the upside, I now have two dogs.

Well we had to get a second dog because the first one was hella bored. and getting him potty trained HAS BEEN SOMETHING, at least now he is no longer shitting indoors.

Butttttttttttttttttttt, I love those two animals very very very much, I just need to invest in a lint roller. Ha

Happy 2022. I hope it goes splendidly and we get all our heart desires.

Happy New Year !

I want to do a review but at the same time I'm like is there any need?

2017 was a good year. were there highlights? Too many

low places? a few.

But a good lesson I forced myself to learn was focusing on blossoming. Focusing on what was working.

The whole hack of life is not to focus your energies on tearing down the old but in building the new things.

And beloved- I'm keeping that energy in 2018.

I was talking to my friend and she said- yeah no you year, new me?

I said nah.

Yesterday I had lunch with the boy I liked, we had lunch on Friday and it was such a good time.

And surprisingly we saw the wedding party 2 and Jumanji together and it was such a fun outing.

Totally random. and while I was going to lie at home, Sugar baby calls me and invites me to dinner.

It's so nice to see him.

We should always be around people that who make us feel good. and whose company we enjoy.

Anyway at the restaurant where we were the last people to leave, I saw the most beautiful beautiful beautiful way a family enters into the new year.

There was champagne. There was a child running around with sparklers. Mother and Grand mother smoking and talking in their language and it was perfect. I should have taken a photo. When I mentioned it to Sugar baby he said make sure you get all the details so you get around writing about it. It's perfect.

We laugh over that.

And I realize I've spent a lot of 2017 making new friends. reading books I thoroughly enjoy. visiting new cities. lying in the dark listening to albums I enjoy ( this is one of my absolute favorite things in the world)- Maybe I should invest in a super surround sound system.

I toyed with the idea of moving out. Maybe this year I will consolidate this. Maybe.

I have looked forward to 2018 for such a long time because THIRTYYYYY. full fabulous.

offcourse I have travel planssss and they are so big and scary but here is the thing if they aren't big and scary how else will growth happen?

In the way of career. I'm ready to get back into the rat race. I miss audit A LOT. but I will never go back. It's too hard too stressful and the occupational hazard.

I think asides work there is not much I plan to change in 2018.

And I want to face this minimalist life business.

And try out this piano thing again for real.

And make more money.

Oh and starting a business.

I had actually posted how I wasn't changing much because to be honest 2017 was a good year.

And I am so grateful to God for how it all panned out.

For living.
For love
For food
For friendships honorable mention to T who moved back.
For church
For my relationship with God
For my nails

And I am truly thankful.

Nostalgia-maxxing with Michael Jackson
